GraphicsGraphics is very essential in web development because this is what visitors gauze your site if it is worthy of their time. So what really makes a graphic to be effective. First, the graphic should be small. Consider using images that are 10 to 12 KB per image because if you will use larger images, it will slow down your site. Visitors to your site will likely to leave if your site takes too long to display so it is better that you use images that are attractive and easy to load. Second, when it comes to graphics, you have to use images that have direct relation to your site. You would not display an image of Hollywood artist to promote the product you are selling, as this will cause confusion to your visitors. Lastly, blinking graphics are not ideal in web development because blinking objects are really annoying and distract readers. Do You Want To Build A Money Making Website. No matter what site you build it will never be able to make money unless it gets traffic. You ask anyone online who is either new or intermediate what their biggest challenge is. The majority would say that getting traffic to their site is their number one priority. So when building a site you will naturally want to build it in a way that will help this to happen. In order to do this you need to research extensively what way you will be able to get in front of people searching for products or information relative to your sites theme. You will need to research markets somewhat relative to your interests. Web Development and Automated DatingYour business can benefit from an online presence because of the flexible nature of online presentation. It is possible to establish a cut off date for the sale of certain products and then use the same date to establish a new line. This can be accomplished through an automated dating system in web builder technology. You can even assign a certain product to show up in the clearance section of your site months ahead of time if you wish. In a brick and mortar business environment there is a lot of work that has to be done whenever there is a change in sales promotions or when items need to be repriced and segregated for clearance sales. Staff members are required to stay late or come in early to make sure the new prices and displays are ready for the consumer. In the world of online business you can create all the changes you want whenever it is most convenient. Because content information is tied to a dating system the web builder software will recognize those changes down to the minute. If you’ve promised your customers a special sale beginning at a specific time it is possible to manage this change hands free. When the time comes for the sale to begin the new information is assigned to the location you predetermined for it and customers gain immediate access to the sale prices. Passing Parameters In A Data Table Using JSFSome working knowledge of J2EE or JSF is assumed for this article. Like some of you I’ve been frustrated with this technology known as JSF or Java Server Faces. There are several different flavors out there that are built on the shoulders of JSF. For instance Oracle’s ADF (Application Development Framework). Oracle ADF Faces Components is a set of over a 100 JSF components that let you build a richer user interface for your Java EE applications. Oracle ADF Faces also includes many of the framework features most needed by JSF developers today. That is great, and in many ways it will make life easier to develop in a JSF environment. Some items you will find available in these “add on” packages have a real benefit. For instance, as of the date of this article, I was very surprised that a File Upload is a feature still not implemented in JSF in respect to using natural jsf tags. There are ways to accomplish this task in JSF but they are not native JSF approaches. The process is a “no brainer” in just about every other framework available today, including asp. net. Another simple task (I thought) was having a data table present the results of a query in an editable format. Possibly to update a user record or shopping cart. After working in other technologies it was very efficient to return a result set to a data table object and let that object take care of some of the trivial behaviors and characteristics of the table itself. When I started exploring JSF I was frequently and at every turn becoming more and more frustrated in trying to duplicate some of the most basic of processes similar to managing records through data tables. There are not a whole lot of resources out there yet on JSF although it is growing steadily, and I found that all too often the resources that I was finding on the internet either didn’t apply to the more simple tasks or the information was just completely wrong. One example of that was that it was stated in one article I read that you cannot use command buttons inside of a JSF data table. The recommendation was to use JSF hyperlinks instead when trying to perform an action from a data table due to a bug in the framework that prevented command button actions to fire if the button resided inside of a data table. Site Rubix Review New Website Building ToolDear Reader,Site Rubix is a new website building tool recently released (Oct 2007) from Kyle and Carson at Wealthy Affiliate. com. I have had a chance to use this website building tool, and I have to say it does do ‘what it says on the tin’. It is very easy to use. You can choose a website style from an array of templates, drag and drop, add images, video, text, and actually publish your own site to your own domain with the click of a button. Building Websites Without Technical KnowledgeThere are a lot of reasons you might want to start a website. It is a great way to communicate with friends & family, and it is a great way to meet new people online and create conversations on the internet. Whether you have an idea or belief you want to promote, or a product you would like to sell, a personal or business website can be the solution to your marketing and communication goals. These days, a lack of technical knowledge doesn’t have to be a barrier to getting started. The good news is you don’t need a degree in programming to start a new website. You don’t even need to know a single line of code for that matter. Simple Principles To Help You Build An Effective WebsiteYou know when it comes to doing anything in life its all about implementation. Sure at this juncture you may be overwhelmed and a little confused about what to do. You may have lots of ideas but you just do not know where to start. As a result you do not implement anything you just get confused and overwhelmed and then nothing happens. The first thing you need to do is identify your strengths. This is where you are going to begin. When it comes to building a website you know that its core value is based upon the information it provides. You Can Build Your Own Great Web SiteLast February, I received a call from a man in Wisconsin asking about my writing services. He was particularly interested in having me rewrite the copy on his Web site. I was very surprised and wondering how in the heck he got my name. Then he mentioned something about my being my Internet hosting service’s “customer of the month. ” I was very pleasantly surprised. After I spoke with him, I logged onto my email and there was an e newsletter from my host server. And, yes, I was the “customer of the month,” and my Web site was the featured site for the month. Of course, I quickly hastened to my site and checked the traffic. I was up to over 300 visits to my home page for the morning, and the day was to end with 796 visits. I don’t believe I’ll ever see numbers like that again. I also received several other calls from people interested in my services. It wasn’t a complete surprise that my site was featured. Last year, I had filled out a “success story” response form on the company’s site. I was later interviewed and told that I would be used as a case study. But the case study never materialized so I had forgotten about it. Thus I was very pleased when my site landed in their e newsletter as the featured site. My host is one of many companies where you can register domain names and get your business online. They will build a site for you; or, if you are cheap like me, you can build your own. When I began my business a few years ago, I waited a whole year for my brother who owns an ad agency in L. A. Tips for Building a Successful WebsiteIn order to truly profit from the internet, one needs a website. There are many programs available that offer free websites but these will not bring about the profit that most people truly desire. What makes the free websites so unsavory is their cookie cutter appearance. All these websites are exactly alike visually and most carry the same content. Original content is what sells best on the internet. For this reason, potential internet marketers should make their initial investment in a domain name. Before selecting a domain name, however, research must be conducted to determine the best items to sell. The way that search engines find websites is with their keywords. By selecting a domain name that is laden with keywords, that site will be more highly indexed by the web crawlers. Web Site Content Management Systems And Its ImportanceContent is a vital component of any website or any marketing/advertising tool, for that matter. However, this was realized only lately that it is important to have good content on the website. Earlier, having a website meant designing visually creative pages. Importance of content was always ignored and it was just thought of as placing some text in between various pieces of graphics. However, with the advent of search engines, importance of content gained prominence. The advantages of having good content finally started receiving its long due significance. With the importance of content growing for websites, the need for web site content management systems has also increased. There are various factors that bring the importance of web site content management under prime consideration. Putting relevant quality content on the website will clearly define the objective of the website and convey the business/company/product profile. A website with good content will have visitors spending more time on it and returning to the site often. Why Every Business Needs a WebsiteWebsites are unquestionably the most overlooked means of marketing for local, owner operated businesses. It is a verifiable truth that every business owner NEEDS a website. In this article, I will explain why every business needs a website and how a business owner can go about obtaining one. A website is the most important thing that you can invest in to guarantee that your business competes and thrives among the many competitors inhabiting your particular market. An online presence is the most efficient and economical way to reach more people who are seeking exactly what you provide. Furthermore, it will ensure that your business will accrue the profits it should. Possessing an online store, if you are selling products, is the smartest and easiest way to conduct business across the globe. Anyone can acquire a website and it is strikingly affordable compared to other marketing techniques like costly advertising, Yellow Page listings and the list goes on and on. In today’s market, running a small business of any kind has never been so competitive. Even specialty markets can have an abundance of competitors in the immediate vicinity. By having an online presence, you earn respect, create a sturdy foundation, enable enhanced communication, and reach a larger customer base. The possibilities of success escalate once you have a website. . . It is very likely that you have encountered your competitors online. You observe their nice website that reaches many more consumers than businesses who are lacking the one thing that we should never be without A WEBSITE. It is much easier to have someone visit your website, than to drive to your store to see what you have to offer. Everything they need to know can be conveniently located on your website and even a way to purchase the product (which is optional of course, but extremely recommended). Now that you understand the importance of having an online presence, here are a few things that you should consider:Constructing Your WebsiteA properly developed website permits your prospective consumers to gather the information they require from the solitude of their own home. There are a few questions that you should ask yourself when deciding on what content to include on your web site. Using FunctionsFunctions are used to perform a well defined task that is normally repeated at various places within a web site, web application, or other software application. The function sometimes needs certain information before performing its task, and sometimes returns a value to the calling page or program. An example of how to use a simple function in PHP: function showMessage() {echo “{$_SESSION[”message”]}”; }The above example shows a very simple function that displays the contents of a session variable called ‘message’. The idea being that while a user is using a web site, etc, various messages are generated and stored in the ‘message’ session variable. Whenever the showMessage function is called, the contents of the session variable are displayed. So, for example, when the user logs on, you could display a message saying that they have done so. Your CSS Code is Slowing Down Your Website How To Optimize for SpeedDid you know that your css code could be slowing down your website. Did you also know that there is a free solution out there that can help you optimize or reformat your css code for speed and readability. This article is going to explain the benefits of optimizing your css code and the reasons why all web designers should be doing it. First we need to take into account the 2 reasons why you would want to reformat your css: readability and optimization. ReadabilityHaving nicely formatted css that easily readable is very helpful when you are developing a site. Most of us (me included) can get pretty sloppy when in a hurry to develop code, and a formatter can really help out to make it more readable. On development teams where both Macs and PCs are used, sometimes line breaks are not read correctly across platforms and your css can end up all on one line. Reusing Code in Web Sites and Applications Part 1 Using Include() and Require()Reusing pieces of HTML code is a common way of making web sites (or web applications) more consistent, reliable, and more manageable. Even a small web site consisting of perhaps 20 or 30 web pages can benefit from reusing code for header and footer sections, for example. If the same header or footer is used across all the pages on the site, it makes sense to put the header and footer code in separate files, and then call those files to insert their contents where required. PHP offers two statements that can be used for inserted the contents of one file inside another: include() and require(). These two statements are virtually identical, with the only real difference being that if require() fails, it gives a fatal error, whereas if include() fails it just gives a warning. For this reason I tend to use the include() statement as it just seems slightly more friendly. So, to include the contents of a file called header. How To Create A Successful WebsiteEvery one of us wants to create a successful website. No one wants to fail. As a consequence of this many of us are out there looking for the silver bullet. Now to me the silver bullet lies within you. You are the key to your success. Of course this sounds nice but how can it be applied in practical terms. Firstly you like anyone else go online to seek solutions. Your idea right now is that you want to make money. Everyone Is Talking Web 2. 0 DevelopmentIn layman language Web 2. 0 means the second generation of web development. The first generation web development is considered to be the great dot com bubble of late 90’s and the rupture of which around late 2001 triggered ubiquitous reactions that the Web was over hyped. Concept of second generation of Web development started after a media conference between O’Reilly and MediaLive International. In this brainstorming session it was realized that the web has thrown up more interesting applications and Web technology has emerged more important that ever and the word Web 2. 0 was coined. Web 2. 0 is a business revolution making a bent towards the web as a platform. Web 2. 0 doesn’t have a definite boundary and there are several things encompassing a core. Web 2. 0 is visualized as principles and collection of numerous sites running on those principles at some distance from the core. Since then Web 2. 0 has remained a top level discussion for proper definition and boundary that is yet to be reached. Content Creation For Your Website How To Avoid Being Caught In A Legal BindWhen creating content for your website, it’s best to be careful about where you get your content from, whether it’s from a freelancer or from another website. You do not want to get on the wrong side of the law or get on someone’s bad books when it comes to their copyrighted work. Unless you take articles from article directories, you must contact the author and ask for their permission. There is no way around that. Sure, the author would like to receive the free publicity, but it’s best to let him or her know before you use their work. It’s common courtesy. What To Look For When Hiring A Webmaster. There are many factors that you need to consider when hiring a webmaster, you need to ensure that you will get customer satisfaction as well as good value for money. You would hate to choose an inexperienced webmaster who cannot meet your requirements because you would have to go through the whole process again to get the job done. It means if you made any partial payment you may lose that which will then lower your budget when looking for another webmaster. Firstly you have to identify the places that you can find these talented webmasters who have the skills to complete you job. There are many relevant forums such as DigitalPoint, WickerFire and Web Talk Forums where you will be able to post exactly what you need and people who are capable will get in contact stating a price if you haven’t set a maximum budget. Aside from the forums there are specific websites that aims to connect freelances with clients so that you can get all your work done much easier and in a timely manner. You could also ask your friends and family to see if they have been in the market in the past for something similar and found a reliable good webmaster, this will also take a lot of the risks out because you know that they are here to make a living and not out to scam unsuspecting people. If you are going to search the forums or websites for a webmaster you should be very cautious about what you state in your thread and make sure you don’t miss any important information out that may prolong the process. This is the kind of information you should always state when creating a project on a forum or freelance website:Exactly what you need doing, try to include as much detail as possible as it will make it easier for the webmaster to quote you an accurate price. It will also prevent the conversation in between telling the webmaster what they need to do. If you can do this successfully they should have everything they have to get started as soon as you accept the quote. Beta A Programming LanguageBETA is a pure object oriented programming language developed by Scandinavian School in System Development, Nordic Universities. This was released after a series of enhancements of their first object oriented language SimulaI which was a simulation language. Soon it was generalized into Simula67 which had the object oriented framework, and worked on the concepts of class, sub class, virtual functions etc. This was enhanced by another object oriented language Delta that worked for system description; this meant it could express predicate logic and state changes. This was a non executable effort and thus did not qualify as a language. So it was decided to design a programming language Gamma that works as Delta but is executable. Eventually, Gamma was never made, rather Beta was made. Does Your Web Site Need a Workout. Here’s an analogy for you. Yesterday, I was working my butt off in the gym on the cardio machines, panting wildly with sweat dripping off me and my face as red as a beet. Not the most attractive sight, but I figure, you’re at the gym to work out right. I might as well “go hard” or “go home”, as they say. As I looked around me, I could see all these people simply going through the motions. There they were, minus perspiration in their shiny new lycra and expensive gym shoes, casually walking on the treadmill or lazily turning the wheels on a bike while reading a book or glued to the TV screens in front of them. Only a few seemed to be there for the actual purpose of working out. The rest seemed to be there to check out the talent or to simply keep up the appearance of fitness, while doing the bare minimum. Huh. I don’t get it. Why have these gym bimbos paid so much money for a gym membership and all the related gear if they aren’t going to take full advantage of their investment. Then it struck me these gymbos were just like those companies who spend thousands of dollars on a shiny new website with all the bells and whistles like graphic design, blogs, shopping carts, web analytics, the lot and then fail to take advantage of it. I see it so often, regardless of company size. Web sites that could easily be bringing in loads of traffic and revenue simply wasting away because nobody can be bothered tracking visitor activity, analyzing trends or checking for search engine compatibility and usability. These companies are simply keeping up appearances, investing heavily in Internet technology because their competitors are doing the same. But no thought has gone into the search engine compatibility of the site, how usable it is for visitors or whether it meets accessibility guidelines. They don’t look at their site statistics, they don’t check for broken links and they sure as heck don’t investigate why their sites aren’t converting traffic into customers. What a waste. Website NavigationImportance of a navigation schemeOne of the most important tasks when developing your website is creating a navigation system that is effective and easy to use. People have a tendency to try to include everything in the navigation tree all at once. Instead they should follow the same process as setting up the structure for the site and break it down in levels. This would be information relevant to the homepage that directs visitors to the main sections of the site. From the main sections of the site, the user gains access to the sub sections containing content pertinent to that section only. Remember to always include links back to the main sections and your homepage on every page in your site. While you are creating your navigation setup, try to look through your user’s eyes. Remember, you are the one creating the structure, so you are biased in your opinions. If you think about what someone else might say or do, then you are one step ahead of the game. As you create you website navigation, make sure that links can be added in the future with no difficulty. You must always keep in mind that your site must be flexible and open to change because it is never completed. All links should be clear and to the point. It makes no sense to have your visitor try to figure out where they are going. They should be able to quickly look for what they want and then access it in a timely and efficient method. There is a better chance of a visitor going somewhere else if it takes too long for them to find the information they are looking for. Your navigation scheme should stick out and be located in a common spot on every page of your site. Consistency allows your visitors to focus on the content instead of trying to figure another navigation system for the same site. Linear navigationLinear navigation provides the same capabilities as your forward and back button on your browser. With this navigation style, you cannot jump around and skip pages. Reading a book or viewing a PowerPoint presentations are also examples of linear navigation. As you read through the pages, it makes no sense to jump around or you might miss an important piece of information. ABC’s of Web DevelopmentHere are the simple ABC’s of web development. A. Web Development and Full Integration’Fully integrated’ is a term used to describes websites that are progressive enough to include virtually every form of online media in their web presence. If you look at sites like Yahoo, Forbes and virtually any of the major television network sites you can gain some idea of what I am taking about. These sites contain either news of blog information. They also contain original video streaming sources and audio streams including podcasts. These sites tend to subscribe to the idea that the web user wants it all and should be able to find it all when they visit the business site. A fully integrated site will often use flash or other animated or moving text. The interesting dynamic is that the best of these sites understand navigation and ease of use remains a critical concern for guests. Forbes, for example is highly adept at slideshow type presentations on a multitude of topics. It could be top selling cars, entertainers, vacation hot spots, etc. These slideshows are optimized for search engines and are easy to breeze through. It seems as if a site like this has the potential to garner some of the same consumers of media that have been courted mostly by network television or traditional newsprint. Most fully integrated sites did not start off that way. 9 Tips for Creating a Site Map for Visitors and SpidersNot every site needs a site map, they can certainly be a good idea. Site maps provide a dual purpose: They provide search engine spiders easy access to all of your site pages and they provide site visitors easy access to all of your site pages. The difference is that search engines and visitors access your site map differently and therefore there are different methods that need to be applied to creating site map(s) that are friendly for both engines and search spiders. Small sites typically don’t need a site map so long as all pages are linked in the main navigation. Once you get into main and sub navigation menu’s then site maps are helpful in allowing search engines and visitors to quickly find anything they are looking for within just a couple of clicks. A single site map can be used for both purposes or multiple site maps can be created. Here we’ll address creating site maps for spiders and humans separately. Site Map For Spiders. xml fileAn . xml document should be added to your site’s root directory containing links to all site pages. This . xml file should then be referenced should be compiled and placed into a proper . xml document which should be uploaded into the root directory. SEO and Web Site BuildingIf you are considering building a web site for your business, then you will more than likely like it to rank in the search engines There are many factors that influence website rankings and many of these factors can be implemented while you are creating your website. Optimizing your website properly for your business will ensure a more successful site. Have you heard the concept “Content is King”. The search engines are becoming more selective at who ranks highly and want to provide the best content for each search term. They are looking for high quality content that is continually updated and provides a quality experience for their searchers. It makes no difference whether you have a content site or a physical product site. Content is “King” as far as the search engines are concerned. By providing quality content and/or good descriptive descriptions of products you sell you will be helping your customers and you may just help yourself at ranking. One mistake many new webmasters make is to over optimize their web page by using too many keywords. Tips To Help You Build A Money Making WebsiteAny of us who are interested in making money online are bombarded daily with information relative to achieving this objective. Along with this it seems that everyday there is a new technique and if you do not apply it you could be leaving thousands of dollars on the table. Many of these opportunities involve creating your own website. This way you can earn revenue using multiple techniques. And of course on the business opportunity sales pages they often say that this can be done within weeks of implementing their strategies. While in some cases this may be true it is often more the exception rather than the rule. I do not want to burst anyone’s bubble. I have been marketing online for almost four years and honestly it takes grit and determination to build a successful business on the internet. The truth is it can be done but many factors have to be brought into consideration before you begin. Php An In Depth Look What is PHP. PHP stands for PHP: HyperText Preprocessor, it is a server side scripting language, and as the name goes, it is to create dynamic and interactive Websites for your visitors. Maybe you currently make your Websites in HTML. HTML alone cannot create dynamic Web pages, HTML is clearly defined as a static language, as it is always static and mainly is used for structuring (or styling, in some cases) a document (or a Web page, if you like). What do we mean by server side scripting. You may already know, but HTML is a client side language, so the browser translates the HTML code into “bytecode” that the computer can understand, and so the computer translates bytecode into what we can clearly understand, text, for example. Server side scripting is a little different, a little bit more added to the story. As with PHP, server side scripting languages have an interpreter inside a machine, that translates the code (in our case, PHP code) to HTML code (that the browser can understand), and then the same process will take place with the browser translating the HTML code to bytecode, and so forth. With server side scripting languages, you don’t need anything adding to your browser or computer, as the interpreter inside the machine that hosts the particular Website does most of the work. What’s the fuss with server side scripting languages, then. The thing that makes server side scripting a must nowadays is because it can generate dynamic Web pages, but what do we mean by dynamic Web pages. Well, imagine you wanted to start a forum, and you used HTML. Okay, you used a form to submit the data and it is sent to your e mail address, and you have to edit the static Web page every time you want a new post added. That, to me, would be the most annoying job of creating a Website. Content Management System And Its Different TypesA system that can be used to manage the content of a website is called content management system (CMS). In other words, CMS is a tool to create, edit, and remove details/information in a website. The definitive advantage of the CMS being that you can carry out most of the task without any technical expertise. The contents managed can be of various types that include web contents, media files, e documents, online transactions, etc. and they are classified based on the requirements. Types of CMSThe different types of CMS are as follows,Browser based CMS:The most convenient and the cheapest CMS is the browser based CMS. It is easy to access and can be edited from anywhere in the world. Most of the other CMS require software to be installed but whereas this CMS does not require any software and can be simply logged in by using a username, password and the contents can be edited. Free Templates How Do They Rate Against Free HTML Editors. Millions of websites being launched year after year can only signify two important things. At this point in time, you might be tempted to ask, if this is all, how good it is over HTML editors which don’t require a template to be downloaded for every time you are building a website. Multiple Niche Websites or One Big Authority Site. Advantages and DisadvantagesDepending on where you want to take your business, a multiple niche website can be an excellent platform with which to expand your business and cover a larger market. It could also be a good choice for you if your interests and expertise vary greatly. However, you also have a choice to just focus all your energies on building one site and staking your reputation on it. So will a multiple niche website be a good choice or will one big authority site increase your chances of success. Let’s take a look at the benefits and limitations of each option:Multiple Niche Websites:A multiple niche website offers you an opportunity to reach several different segments of the market all at once, allowing you to cover as much ground as you can using just one or a few sites. AdvantagesA multiple niche website lets you communicate to multiple groups of potential customers and possibly close a business transaction from there. It also helps maximize your initial website building efforts, particularly because you only need to build each site around a single design concept. Multiple niche websites can also showcase your flexibility and comprehensiveness of services that you offer. It’s like having a multi specialty site that attracts clients and customers from several different market segments and then doing business with them. Once your site has been around for sometime, it could easily pick up a minimum of 1,000 to 3,000 hits per day even more when you’ve gained enough reputation and recognizability in the business. DisadvantagesThe disadvantage of a multiple niche website rests mainly on its design. Since you will be promoting different products and/or services from a single site, imagine how it would look like to a visitor. One site = hundreds of related links. How to Have Your New Virtual Assistant Website Built the Cheap WayNormally, if you want a professionally designed, custom built website for your new virtual assistant business, you should be prepared to spend at least a few hundred dollars. But, all that can change if you know where to find the best deals and the best designs for the lowest price. First, it costs more to have a brick and mortar company design a website for you. Have you seen those newspaper ads that offer a 5 page website for $500. These are probably companies with physical locations. They have to charge more simply to pay for their overhead: office rent, designers’ wages, advertising costs and so on. Therefore, it would be wise to use a virtual assistant (VA) instead. Learning to Build Websites The Easy WayMost beginners get screwed up when it comes to website building. Using Perl To Convert Hyperlinks And Filenames To LowercaseLike a lot of web developers, I’m not always that disciplined when it comes to the file naming convention I use and I sometimes end up with a situation whereby I have some files that are in lowercase, some that begin with a capital, and some that are a bit of a mixture. One web site I maintain contains about 2000 web pages and has about 20,000 hyperlinks. As you can imagine, I had one of those sinking feelings when I was told that in order to migrate the web site to a new content management system, all the file names and hyperlinks would need to be changed to lowercase. Whenever I am presented with a problem like this, my instinct is always to write a Perl script using one or more regular expressions to solve the problem. This particular situation was no exception. Change a string to lowercaseThe following regular expression changes all the characters in a string to lowercase. Web Marketing and the Potential in a Multi Site DesignThe concept of web development may include more than a singular ecommerce website. I have talked about the subject of web development in light of positively constructing a website. I’ve also talked about the mentality needed to envision the entire site prior to launch so you have some idea of where you want to go. The goal also included the need for a plan for growth and site expansion. This article looks at the subject from the point of view of a corporate office with a few satellite offices that support and expand the potential of the primary business. In a brick and mortar store environment it is often true that a business will start in a singular location. As trust is built through longevity and commitment to quality and service the business grows. If the business does well the owner may decide to develop a second store in another city within the region of primary service and support. Other stores may be opened as a result of the ongoing success of the overall operation. The idea is multiple stores one brand. Web development may be the mirror image of the brick and mortar model. Why do I say mirror. Well, because in the case of an online environment an ecommerce business owner may be better served by starting with the secondary stores and building up to the primary online business portal. Marketing to Find Motivated Sellers How We Model Investor MarketingI am using the time I alloted today to work on the real estate investor marketing in the Learn To Be Rich on line game to lay out a framework of the steps we need to follow to get this new feature implemented into the game. First, I will need to access the Php MyAdmin control panel and manually add in some of the sample types of marketing so that I begin to play with those with my test player in the game. My intention is to add 3 or so different ones like classified ads, bandit signs and door to door flyers. Next, once I have those three in the database, I will need to add some code so that there is a chance each turn to learn that from our in game Marketing Consultant. This includes adding the type of marketing to that players database table as something that is available. How Good Is Your Website Building Company. HelloI am a person who decided 3 years ago that I wanted to create or build my own websites. The company I use to assist me not only has ALL the tools and All the advice and ALL the assistance and can prove ALL that it says and is SO cheap to purchase, just today it surprised me AGAIN. It appears that they had a little setback with one of the tools they provide. This tool is a major tool for all of us who are building websites. Did they deny the problem. No. Did they try to pass the blame onto someone else. No. Did they try to hide from a lot of angry customers. Again, no. Using Web Builders For The First Time Easy or Difficult. Having to know HTML has been for many years the one thing that has prevented people from building their own website. There was an unspoken belief that ordinary, i. e. non technical, people would need to consult experts if they wanted an internet presence. Modern software marketers claim that anyone with a computer and internet connection, can easily build websites without the need to learn HTML. In this article we discuss if this is really true or not. With some new web software programs, the emphasis has moved away from “coding” to more of a step by step user friendly approach. Simply typing your website information onto pages just as you would using a word processor can result in pages being generated automatically into web pages. Many programs use WYSIWYG technology. This stands for “what you see is what you get”. Most modern editors format the entire HTML in the background. First Steps To Website Internationalization GlossaryMaking your web site easy for international visitors to understand is what website internationalization is all about. There are times when differences in vocabulary may crop up. This can even happen across different industries in the same country. One of the ways you can help your readers is to start a Glossary. In your glossary you can list industry specific words and all words you use commonly where others may not have the exact same understanding. If you explain a process in your communication, think of including verbs in your glossary. The key to making your glossary work for you is to strive for accuracy, clarity, and ease of understanding. AccuracyIn some cases a lack of accuracy can have devastating effects. In health issues. In reference to using machinery. Is Your Website Working For You. A question I often ask my target market is, “what’s your biggest challenge with building your business online. ” And one answer I get frequently is this:How do I make my website earn money. If you’ve got a business online, then it’s likely you have some sort of web presence. Perhaps it’s a one page ’sign up for my list’ kind of site, or a full blown brochure site with a menu of choices, or maybe your site is in the form of a blog. Regardless of what kind of site (or sites) you have, if they’re not doing what you want them to and since we’re in business, ultimately that means making some sort of a profit then it’s time to make some changes. But how do you REALLY know whether your site is working or not. Here are four strategies to test and track your pages to know what needs fixing:1. Let the numbers speakI’m sure if the sky was the limit, you’d hire the most expensive web designer with the fanciest tools to create the most spectacular site imaginable for your business and someday you just may do that. For now, though, even an ugly site can make money. I can think of at least two sites right now that I personally think are not that pleasing to the eye, yet I know they are raking in the bucks each and every month, year after year. So don’t get caught up in having the most polished and professionally looking site. Simple PHP Review Real PHP Tutorials in PDF, Or a Scam. Are you interested to find out more about the Simple PHP guide, and whether or not it is worth getting. The Importance of an Effective Homepage How to Present Dynamic Website ContentLooking for a way to attract more attention to your website. Offer a fresh face and new content on a regular basis and you’ll find people will check back to see what’s new and you’ll have a tool to measure what attracts and what doesn’t. Here’s how to do it. Your website homepage is your front door through which online browsers come to visit your business. Static, never changing content is no more interesting to a returning visitor than a book they have already read. To keep your audience captivated and coming back you need to make your home on the web inviting and interesting. Present a Dynamic Home PageOne way that you can present changing home page content is to design ten to twelve unique pages with different content and then rotate them every month. Take a couple of weeks to design different ideas and images. Create page promotions that include a message that is timeless or that has a seasonal or timely announcement such as “Holiday Specials. ” When you consider different features for your home page and when it should be placed you’re forced to look closely at at your marketing strategy over a one year period. This will save you a lot of time since you then won’t have to think about your content through the year. It also allows you to plan your offers and gather the necessary content. A web developer can put your home pages on a rotating script or use an automatic timer. You can then rotate your home pages to highlight a new tip every month or to promote a featured product. The home page of your website is much like the front cover of a magazine. People want to see a home page that has different photos and content at least every month, preferably every week. S. sales from a new category of business that hardly existed ten years ago. For entrepreneurs like you, numbers like this mean that new online business opportunities are actually increasing. That’s because the Internet continues to change so many of the basic assumptions that you were taught about business as its technology gets easier to use and more widespread. If you are a beginner and do not think you have the ability or knowledge to run a turnkey web site, do not worry. Turnkey web sites are built for complete beginners. Even if you have never owned or ran a web site, you will have no problems. There is quite a variety of easy web site building software on the market today. In addition, some of the software available today is very expensive, geared more for the professional web designer, and come with a huge learning curve. A very important factor to consider, one that will vastly improve the ease of the program, is whether or not it includes a WYSIWYG editor. WYSIWYG stands for “what you see is what you get” and if you purchase a product with this feature you will be creating your website in an environment similar to a word processor so if you are comfortable using a word processor creating a website shouldn’t be too much for you. In the past, the options for small businesses to get a site developed have changed dramatically. There are now sophisticated “site builder” tools available to small business owners, bundled with many web hosting packages. By using templates, and a content management system to manage updates to the site, it became easier to set up and maintain a web site, and many development companies have canned this functionality, for a fee. Hosting providers are increasingly offering tools to automate the web site building process, and with good reason. This new option has many benefits, as long as the business owner recognizes that there are trade offs and limitations to getting a web site this way. One of the biggest attractions for site building tools is the cost. It won’t necessarily cost less to get your site this way, but it does provide a way to spread the cost over time. Many people are concerned with building their own website, fearing boring designs and complexity. However, it is now becoming apparent that there are many custom web site builder software products on the market that promise dynamic layouts, professional templates, and user friendly web design tools. The professional web designers know there are a few more things to know, but sometimes they find some irony in the fact that web developers, in their quest to improve and better the web, have made themselves “optional”. Most site building tools today are very robust, making it simple to add forms, searching, maps, guest books, calendars, and a whole variety of elements to a web site. Even better, the hosting company sometimes offers an entire suite of services the site builder, email marketing, search engine optimization and statistics, all in one package along with the hosting. So, why would anyone hire a professional. First, the site building tools, though increasingly robust, often lack in design and layout flexibility. For example, they might depend on a standard layout that has a banner across the top, menu down the side. If you want to have your navigation across the top and perhaps a sub banner under it, you might not have that option. Many businesses have already outgrown their first or second site, and want something customized to their business. Since all site builders differ, it is possible that you could want features and functionality within your site which is not available within the system. Still, some site builders support development languages like PHP, making it possible to customize the site with the help of a programmer. Some site builders include ecommerce, but they do not all do it the same way. A few utilize PayPal but not credit cards. Some use a proprietary payment processing service and won’t accommodate anything else. The bottom line is that it is important to look at sites that were built using the tool you’re considering and research all of the features that are included; to be sure that everything you want to do is possible. There is also a possibility that the service will require you to keep some branding on the site telling people that you used their tool. This is more common with the free site builders which pay for themselves by putting ads on your site. Lastly, blinking graphics are not ideal in web development because blinking objects are really annoying and distract readers. More often readers leave web sites with excessive flash or blinking objects most especially when these objects hinder them from reading the whole web page. B. AdvertisingAdvertising is lifeline of web sites and you have to handle them effectively to ensure success of your site. When in comes to advertising, you have to remember two things, the number of ads and how related it is to your site. The number of ads should be just enough to give room to other contents of your site. If they are overlapping contents of your site, then maybe that is why your site lags behind in web searches. Next, you should only post ads that related to products or services offered. If they are related, your readers will likely to open the links to your ads but if they are not related the ads might not be opened. In the end ads generate income but if they are driving your visitors away, then maybe its time to remove some of your ads and just stick the ones that are related to the content of your site. For example you may be interested in travel. Some guru’s say you should not necessarily build a site around something you are interested in instead you should build a site around a subject that will make you money. While this is understandable many people would be challenged to keep up the motivation doing something they do not like when they are starting out because at this point there will be very little if any money coming in. What you can do is pick a subject of general interest and then find niches within that which are profitable. This way you have the best of both worlds helping you to stay motivated and make money at the same time. So your primary goal is to build a site that can compete with others and make you money. Develop the site in a way that the search engines will be able to understand and your visitors will enjoy. When the time comes for the sale to begin the new information is assigned to the location you predetermined for it and customers gain immediate access to the sale prices. Imagine the day after Thanksgiving, but without the hassle of actually having to show up for work on time. Many businesses enjoy the flexibility of making changes to their business site well in advance of the date the changes are to be put in place. This idea may stand in stark contrast to the way you run your website. In many cases the only changes that can be made are alterations directed by the web designer. Often a web designer lacks the ability to make immediate and/or timely changes to your website. Businesses that use a web designer often need to make multiple requests for work to be completed on their site. The growth of self directed site design is due in large part to the need businesses have of being able to make immediate changes to their site if necessary. Due to the immediacy of the web it has also become important for businesses to learn to manage those changes quickly. In a feat that might rival The North Pole and its inhabitants, webs builder technology seems to operate on a magical plane where things systematically change without the need for direct human intervention. The recommendation was to use JSF hyperlinks instead when trying to perform an action from a data table due to a bug in the framework that prevented command button actions to fire if the button resided inside of a data table. At first I thought “you’ve got to be kidding me”. Then I remembered that I’ve been finding a fair amount of “bogus” information in regards to JSF development so I decided to do further research and discovered that information to be less than accurate as well. I simply had to find a way to populate a data table through a result set and get a command button to fire an action and pass all of the data in the data table to the backing bean to update the record. Multiple command buttons would exist as well as hidden fields pertaining to id numbers and so forth. Pretty basic stuff and we’ve all done it before with relative ease. It turned out that the solution was in fact a simple one. “Binding”. You’ve heard about it and read about it. But this approach was something a little different as far as I could find. Many of the blogs and articles that I read dealt with passing the values as parameters and following the steps to define the parameters in faces. config files etc. , then retrieving the parameters in a backing bean. Processing the passed data required another set of procedures to utilize mapping to each of the field parameters passed and then processing could begin. That seemed like a whole heck of a lot to me just to retrieve form data. Then it occurred to me that I should be able to “bind” a text field component on a page to a backing bean. Once it is bound then all I have to do is extract the data. And that’s all there is to it. My query returned results and pre populated a data table including text fields with the values of the query pre populated in the text fields. If you can install software packages through a web browser interface, you can set up a Content Management System (CMS) that will allow you to design, create, and manage any number of pages, articles, and stories. Some web hosts even have utilities like Fantastico that will automatically install a variety of Content Management Systems from blogs, to forums, to picture galleries or e commerce websites. Content Management Systems not only give websites more interactivity and functionality, they also allow people with few technical skills to get up and running with an online presence. The most popular ones like WordPress, Simple Machine Forums, phpBB, and Joomla are all free to use with varying regulations on how you can modify or transfer use of the software. Each of the programs also has discussion communities built around them where new and experienced users share advice & knowledge with the most common errors and user requests. Secondly that information needs to be organized logically. Then that information needs to make sense to your readers and also needs to be understood by the search engines. So having good site structure will benefit all parties concerned. At this point you probably have something in mind about what you want to do online in other words a subject that you want to build your site around. If not you have some reason for wanting to build a site in the first place and that may be just to share it with friends and family or to make money. Identify your ideas and write them down. Once you have cleared your mind then you will be in a far better position to move onto the next task. A. to professionally build my Web site for free. Now he’s kind of successful, and he didn’t get that way by doing a lot of free work for relatives. At the time, my server was doing a lot of radio advertising claiming you could “build your Web site in 20 minutes. ” One day after nagging my brother once more, he became exasperated and said, “Why don’t you just build your own. “So I did. I called the company and they provided templates and lots of help. I chose an animated template with a layout ideal for showcasing a portfolio. There was a bit of a learning curve. I had to play around and call for help a few times. It took me longer than 20 minutes; yet, technically, the commercial was accurate: you could really get a home page up with your contact info in 20 minutes. I believe I spent about 20 hours to get my Web site to the point where I was willing to “publish” it. One of the advantages I have found about building your own Web site is that you don’t have to rely on an outside Web Master to update it. Sometimes those fellows are swamped and it can take awhile. If I want to put a new project in my online portfolio, I can do it in a few minutes. Or if I want to add something new to my list of services, I can quickly type it in and it’s done. I found a huge difference in how I was perceived in the business community once I had a Web presence. Suddenly, I was taken seriously. These days when someone asks, “What’s your Web address. ” you should have it ready. By selecting a domain name that is laden with keywords, that site will be more highly indexed by the web crawlers. For this reason, a product needs to be selected in order to appropriate the best domain name for that product. After a product has been selected and a domain name purchased, content needs to be added to the site. Make sure to use appropriate headers that are short, sweet, and full of keywords. Make the site user friendly and visually pleasing. Products should be on the site next. As stated in the beginning, original content is best. However, developing your own content can incur cost and time. If just starting out, you can sell other people’s product to get your business started. A website with good content will have visitors spending more time on it and returning to the site often. Having properly structured niche content will increase the website’s credibility and may help in converting a visitor into a potential customer. Content with adequate number of keywords will make the website search engine optimized, thus improving its visibility on search engine results. Other websites will want to link to quality content rich website. This will increase the number of referral visitors to the website and also its exposure to search engines thereby increasing the overall popularity of the website. Having understood the importance of content, it is also essential to know the web site content management process. There are various ways of getting good content. You can write the required content yourself and get it tweaked from a professional editor or you can directly hire a professional content writer. However, before doing the above steps of directly writing the content or getting it written, the objectives for having a proper content should be clearly defined. This could include making decisions about:Target audience with relevant demographics, if applicable. There are a few questions that you should ask yourself when deciding on what content to include on your web site. For example, what questions are frequently asked about your product or service. And how, precisely, is the best way to explain that question on your website to clarify it to a potential consumer. This is the information that needs to be accessible on your new website. If you have a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, directions, how to’s, etc. , then customer phone calls will be minimal compared to not having an informative website. Let the website give customers’ everything they need to know about your product, how to order, and all other information that may be relevant to your product or service. Target MarketVisualize yourself as a customer and study all the information on the site. Investigate all the content, its relevancy and importance. Furthermore, ensure that it is attractive enough to catch the attention of visitors who might have inadvertently entered your website. Your target market is any person willing to purchase your product or service. The website should have appropriate information and be regularly maintained for optimal performance. Visual AidsThere should be visual aids on your site that visually explains your product or service. If you are an artist and are selling your artwork, then you should have photographs of your artwork so prospective buyers can observe what you have to offer. Endeavor to construct the site to be an eye catching, fun and interesting site that will attract visitors’ attention. A visually appealing website will be more successful than an amateur site because visitors will be more attracted and, consequently, become more interested in your product or service because you have caught their “eye”. Competing in Today’s MarketTo stay on top of an ever growing market, most business owners try to keep tabs on their competitors and employ professional marketing specialists. By doing so, they ensure that their business will stay competitive and retain the customer base. Search Engines generate about 95% of all visitors to websites. Your marketing focus should be directed towards optimizing your site with the search engines to increase your keyword rankings. Likewise, when they log off, a different message could be displayed. Calling a functionTo call the showMessage function, you would just need to include the line:showMessage()in the web page (wrapped in php tags to distinguish it from normall HTML). Passing values to a functionOften, a function requires one or more input values in order to perform its task. For example, take the following example that takes two numbers as input, and adds them together. The result is then returned to the calling web page or program. function addNumbers($number1,$number2) {$answer = $number1 + $number2;return $answer; }In the calling program we would have something similar to the following:$number1 = “5″; $number2 = “6″; $sumOfNumbers = addNumbers($number1,$number2); echo “$sumOfNumbers”;Obviously, in a real program you would not have the numbers hardcoded like this, but they would be obtained from user input or by some other means. On development teams where both Macs and PCs are used, sometimes line breaks are not read correctly across platforms and your css can end up all on one line. A formatter can help get your code looking pretty again. OptimizationThe opposite of readability is optimization. One problem with CSS is that it can get pretty file size heavy when designing with it especially on complex layouts. Optimizing your CSS will strip out all unnecessary characters and leave your CSS lean and mean. Optimizing css is great to do once you’ve finished your site and don’t plan to work on the design very much anymore. The css formatter is a great tool because it can do both. So, to include the contents of a file called header. inc inside a web page called index. php, you would just need to insert the following line of code (wrapped in PHP opening and closing tags) inside index. php. Include ‘header. inc’;As PHP takes no notice of the extension used for the included file, you can use whatever extension you want to. Be careful though, if you put passwords inside an include file with a . Your idea right now is that you want to make money. So you are going to search out opportunities that enable you to achieve this. As a result of this you are going to come across a lot of information and the information that seems the most believable to you is the one you will choose to obtain. However there is also another element at play and that is emotion. The site that outlines the benefits that speak best to your emotional desires will be the one that you approve. To build a successful website you can use yourself as the model. In other words when people visit your site are you going to outline the benefits that speak to their emotional desires and furthermore will you provide proof by helping them to connect the dots which will make it believable for them that they can reach the goal that they desire to reach. If your website is built in this way where you genuinely help others achieve their objective then your site will be naturally successful. One can simply say blogs, social bookmarking, wikis, podcasts, RSS feeds, and lightweight business over a single platform. Web is no more one way, now uploading, and downloading of information happens simultaneously, sharing and distributing contents across networks leveraging the power of “Long Tail”. Web 2. o includes numerous practices. Here are some typically implemented practices by websites: Well off internet applications based on Flex or Ajax. This intend to allow information intended for end users, such as contact information, calendar events, geographic coordinates, content life, social relationships etc Presentation is separated from content through Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). High end APIs (Application programming interfaces). Content Syndication through RSS or Atom. Facility for content creation through users, also by machines from client side or server side. Content Syndication: Syndicating partial or whole content through standard protocols such as RSS, Atom, and RDF by using XML so as to be used by the end users for their need. Some misconceptions on Web 2. 0: Curvy designs (This curvy structures became widely popular at the same time, designers also started making more websites with this cool looking styles) Use of Ajax or Flex (Which happens to come in the same time of Web 2. 0, No doubt that websites with web 2. 0 architecture needs these to work well. )Web 2. It’s common courtesy. I’m a heavy article author and marketer, so I know the tricks people pull to get articles on their websites. Some will include links which don’t work, don’t include the resource box, or just plain spin my articles into their own by changing the title and leaving everything else the same. I usually don’ take much action unless it’s a major case, because I’ve got better things to do with my time, like marketing my business and serving my customers, but others might do things differently. They’ll certainly take action if they feel it warrants it. I can tell you from personal experience; trust is low on the Internet and people are willing to take legal action (my freelancer is doing that just now to someone else who copied her work). If you can do this successfully they should have everything they have to get started as soon as you accept the quote. Deadline, one of the most important things for a webmaster is to know the maximum deadline. This will also remove the factor of them having to rush a job to get it done to an unexpected deadline because if the webmaster was to miss any deadlines it will look bad from their side which may deter many other people from using them in the future. Maximum budget, this is quite important in the fact that it will eliminate any webmasters that charge over your budget so is well worth putting into the pitch somewhere. Any additional information that you feel will be beneficial to the chosen webmaster. After you have set your project up you will get overwhelmed with responses and quotes from people who believe they are capable of meeting your requirements. You then have to go through the responses one by one to see if anyone stands out from the crowd, your budget will be a major deciding point at this stage because if anyone has quoted an amount over your budget you can discard that right away. You should always ask for samples of previous work so that you will be confident in your decision and don’t choose anyone that is simply after your money. Any reputable webmaster will have a portfolio showcasing their talents and strengths ready for you to take a look at. Each forum or website will have a rating system in place so you can see how successful they have been since starting as a freelance webmaster. Take a look at their history and feedback to see what comments past customers have left as this will be the only information you can rate them on. When you have found the webmaster you want to take on, the next step is to arrange payment. Eventually, Gamma was never made, rather Beta was made. While Beta was being made, it was realized that Beta was much more powerful than what Gamma would be or ever could be. Beta is a programming language like C++. Currently, BETA is available on UNIX workstations, on PowerPC Macintosh and on Intel based PCs. BETA has an optimum balance between compile time checking and run time checking. The type cast checking is done at compile time, however, for the entire set of type check and type conversion to be done at compile time requires a lot of time and thus increases the complexity of a program. Thus, an optimum balance has been made. What a waste. Is your web site working hard enough for you. Run it through the following 20 point fitness assessment to find out: Is your site fully search engine compatible. Are all your pages being indexed by the major search engines. Do you track your visitor statistics on a regular basis. Do you use the information provided by your visitor statistics to improve your site. Is your web site accessible to visually impaired visitors. Does it meet the international standards set down by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). Do you know which sites and search engines provide you with the most traffic. Do you use this information to increase your traffic further. Do you track the source of all reported errors in your site statistics and fix them promptly. Do you know which keywords your site was found for in the search engines. Have you conducted keyword research to determine what search terms your target markets are looking for so you can optimize for them. Does your web site HTML code validate to W3 standards. Do you check for validation regularly. Does your site contain zero broken links. Do you check for and fix broken links regularly. Has your site been fully search engine optimized to integrate your target search terms into your Page Titles, META Tags and visible page text. Have you created and submitted an XML sitemap to Google Sitemaps. People who create sites with this style often are directing the visitor from a starting point to a predetermined end in a step by step fashion. Your links will not allow the user to anywhere other than where you want. Hierarchical navigationHierarchical navigation allows the visitor to go from a homepage to the main sections of your site and then to the subsections. Visitors can travel through your site without any restrictions. This type of navigation ties all the areas of your site together so any page can be accessed from another in as few clicks as possible. Hierarchical navigation is best used on sites that are filled with information and to be utilized like a library. Sitemaps for navigating through your websiteSitemaps provide a list of organized links to the content of your website. The same way a table of contents tells you what is inside a book, a sitemap does the same for your website. Your visitors are given a one page view of the information structure that your site is based on. Sitemaps are not meant to be your websites primary navigation but more as a compliment to it. Navigation barsA navigation bar gives your visitors the ability to move between the different sections of your website. It should be placed on every page of your site and should be consistent as well. Placement of the navigation bar is entirely up to you. The navigation bar can go on the left side of your page because most people read from left to right. It can also be placed on the top of your page so it is the first thing your visitors see. Some people place it on the right hand side of the page intentionally making a visitor browse through content to then be able to navigate the rest of the site. Theme and navigation linksThe theme for a website is created with the way you use color, fonts and images. During the theme creation process, remember to not clutter your pages with unnecessary content that will draw your visitor’s attention from the main content. There are many ways to create a theme. One example might be a newspaper look consisting of black and white colors with a plain font. Themes give a website character and often leave a strong visual impression on the visitor. Most fully integrated sites did not start off that way. In most cases they worked through issues they could easily address and then added features as their knowledge and confidence grew in relation to the their site development skills. That’s something I have always suggested. Do the best you can at developing a site with the most comprehensive development techniques at your disposal. That doesn’t mean you have to have a fully integrated site in order to conduct business, but it does mean that you do not simply wipe your brow, release a sigh and suggest to yourself that your work is finished. The truth is there are more skills in online web development that are being released than ever before. More programs are working with each other allowing a new robust platform for online use. The role of online web development is an ever changing ever growing function in relation to how you manage your site and in the use of the most effective marketing tools available. Many sites will develop an internal compass that provides the date they want to upgrade the website to include new functions. In essence they treat their website like software developers treat upgrades. Some will even go so far as to indicate their website has gone from version 1. 0 to version 1. xml document which should be uploaded into the root directory. Robots. txt fileWith your . xml site map file in place you must then make it accessible to search spiders. Reference the site map in your robots. txt file by adding a line for sitemap: URL (example: sitemap: currentBe sure that your . xml file is updated and uploaded frequently, or at least as often as pages are added or removed from your site. Large sites should implement an automated site map update monthly or even weekly or daily. Site Map For VisitorsNavigation linksA site map designed for human visitors is just like any other website page. Link to the site map page should be included in the primary navigation or the site’s global footer. Visitors should be able to find this link without too much searching. Additional page linksSite map should also be linked from various pages within the site such as Help pages and your custom 404 redirect page. This helps point visitors to the site map as a quick and easy means to find what they need. If you are excessive with your keywords, your web page will not read well and the search engines my penalize you. It is considered spamming when your techniques are questionable even if that wasn’t your intention. There are other techniques that are considered unethical including hiding text, and redirects. Just write for your visitor and don’t try to over optimize your web page. Another thing to keep in mind that may cause you problems is the use of frames. Make sure you know how to use frames correctly before using them on your website. If the proper frame context is established, then the search engines can send visitors to your site. However if you use frames incorrectly the spiders for them will not be able to crawl your web page and or website. During web site building, you should also consider the depth of your site. The first being how many hours per day are you willing to spend to build your online business. By the way do not be fooled into thinking that an online business does not have to be taken as seriously as an offline business. If you do not take it seriously then you will not achieve serious results. The step to take is to outline on a piece of paper what your interests are. Then you will need to research the market online to see which way you can enter the market and make money. In terms of building a website you need to gather all this information first. Once you find what you are looking for and have determined that you are going to build a site relative to that subject you can then look for a site builder that will help you achieve the results you desire to achieve. The best site builders are the ones that have proven results. Secondly if you are not technically minded you want it to take care of all those details. That, to me, would be the most annoying job of creating a Website. However, with PHP (or any other server side scripting language, for that matter), can be completely automated, and you’d not have to edit your file even once. The thing that PHP does, is sends the form data to a different page, saves it in “pre defined” variables (things that store a value), and using something called a “while loop” that continually loops all the posts saved in the Web page and that’s it. PHP stores the posts in a MySQL database (something that holds data, if you like, like member accounts, etc) and uses that as long term memory. But if we’re talking about server side scripting languages, what makes PHP different from the rest. Well, simply put, PHP is probably the best thing that has come into the server side scripting genre. If you have heard about other scripting languages like Perl or ASP/ASP. NET, you’ll come to find that they are extremely hard to learn from. Put it this way, the majority of Web developers that use ASP. NET, for example, are those who have come from a different programming background, like have known VBScript, or other languages that’s in relation to ASP. NET, the same with Perl. The difference between PHP and the rest, is PHP is incredibly easy to learn, especially for the newbies towards this industry, and PHP has took several steps to ensure an easy introduction to those newbies to the world of programming. Let’s do an example, lets see which is the easiest to understand, out of PHP, VBScript and Perl, by doing a simple “Hello World” program, that outputs text to a Web page:PHP:echo “This is some text that’ll be shown in a Web page. “;VBScript/ASP. Most of the other CMS require software to be installed but whereas this CMS does not require any software and can be simply logged in by using a username, password and the contents can be edited. Transactional based CMS:This type of CMS can be employed by E commerce organization where they need to manage large data of transactions though online. Digital based CMS:Information is also stored in digital format, hence the digital equipment needs to be organized and kept in a system that is effective and functions properly. For this purpose, you can use a digital asset management system which will help in organizing all the media files. The digital media may contain audio, video, stills, graphics, and other media related files. Business Process CMS:This is a CMS which is related to transaction details such as invoices, sales order, application forms, etc. Further, the system offers the businesses to integrate and expand in the corporate environment and also provides the support to organize the work steps systematically and improve better communication among the users. Enterprise CMS:This system offers the users to access, scan, store and manage all information within an enterprise. At this point in time, you might be tempted to ask, if this is all, how good it is over HTML editors which don’t require a template to be downloaded for every time you are building a website. True, they don’t require you to possess knowledge of HTML but they still rest the task of creating an appealing layout upon you, juggling with color schemes, and placement of different sections on your page etc which are really not your job. It is precisely here that the website templates fill the void import web templates into your favorite HTML editor and get set go with site building. Conventional method of web designing is out of date as it takes a lot of manual labor a web entrepreneur can hardly afford to waste. When web presence matters to you for reasons beyond passion, you would never want to waste time and efforts on designing your own templates or even purchase them in bulk. Free templates are in no way inferior to paid templates but you have to be choosey about your source. They do not limit your aspirations; instead you can have a variety of them such as free CSS templates, PSD templates, besides the plain HTML types. One site = hundreds of related links. And we’re not just talking about internal links either. A multiple niche website is essentially your store from which you’ll be running your business. Once you’re actively participating in the industry, it shouldn’t be long until you find external links that you might want to refer to your visitors. Now imagine the chaos dozens of links, banners, buttons, ads, graphics, pages upon pages, all coming from just one direction, each one crying out for attention. If you can’t manage it well, a multiple niche website can grow to be a multi headed monster, each one heading for a different direction and demanding a different type of approach. In the end, there is a danger that you could be competing with no one else but yourself. Build multiple niche websites if. You have the expertise and the experience in the specific niches you want to focus on. You have the skills, time or manpower to devote for the development of each niche. You have the resources to spend for the demands that a multiple niche site will require. You have established an organized and well designed business processing system to handle transactions such as sales, discounting, customer service, subscription, etc. You have the patience of a saint and the eye for detail of an IRS auditor. Single Authority SiteThe single authority site is just that one site offering excellent products or services pertaining to a single niche or industry. One site = hundreds of related links. As you already know, VAs often work from home so they do not have high operating costs like a big company does. On the other hand, a VA will be able to design images with quality similar to (or better than. ) those of designers from big companies. However, choose your VA with care. The best way to find the right VA for your project would be to go to visit the website of a VA association. There you can post your RFP (request for proposal) and have hundreds of talented VAs bid on your project, so you will get the best deal. You will also be able to choose your designer based on her experience, past transactions and client testimonials, so your value for money is secured. In the Internet, people look for information through Search Engine (SE) and web pages that ranked in the first page will benefit the most. Therefore, it is critical for you to optimize your web pages for certain targeted keywords so that you can rank high in the SE Ranking Position (SERP). Easy Web Building ToolYou can build your website with other free website building software. Wordpress and Blogger are probably the most popular free web building tool available in the Internet. However, both offer less flexibility and professional looks since they are geared towards personal blog or online diary than for business ventures. Nevertheless, you can use both to get some feel of how to build a great website. In my opinion, you should consider buying advanced website builder if you are serious about making money online. These softwares offer additional features compared to free tools such as flexible web editing and built in SE Optimization (SEO) tools. The initial investment can be easily recovered by the earnings potential you will be getting. I prefer Site Build It as my web building tool. Easy Traffic GenerationTraffic is the one that will determine your success. You’re doing enough to exist, but not enough to excel. You’re doing enough to be counted, but not enough to go over the top. I’m sorry. I really like you. I wish you the best, but the truth is you’re behind the curve. You can change it, but to do that, first you need to change how you see the web and the possibilities. You’ve got to decide if you’re serious about your business. Is your business concept a winner or a loser. Can it work. Is it working. What to do about it. More of the same isn’t the answer. Making your website more pretty isn’t going to cut it. You need to diversify. I may be blunt, but I’m not exaggerating. Like John McCain says, “Time for some straight talk”. A business website should be only one piece of your web presence. You should also have a presence on every social networking website out there. The first part of the regular expression finds a hyperlink, and the second part converts the string. (Just in case this article is not displayed correctly, there should be a single backslash in front of the ‘L$1′). 1. $line =~ s/Change a filename to lowercaseLikewise, changing a filename itself is very simple. The following two lines perform the task quite nicely: 1. use File::Copy; 2. Well, because in the case of an online environment an ecommerce business owner may be better served by starting with the secondary stores and building up to the primary online business portal. If you’re thinking, “That does seem backwards,” allow me to explain. These satellite stores should have direct links to your primary site. Each satellite may have its own emphasis, but will always relate to the thrust of your main business. The end goal remains the same, multiple stores one brand. Why develop more than one site. In web development the idea of more than one site could mean improved site rankings for your primary site and additional opportunities to reach potential customers. Think of it this way. Each satellite website you develop can take on a distinct list of keywords or phrases. Each will be associated with your primary product. All content on the site will be geared toward the specific keyword or phrase. If you have four supporting sites that can go online at the same time as your primary site you have five distinct opportunities to reach consumers with your message. Work to optimize each site for search engines and select unique and researched keywords or phrases for each site. Apart from quality, many Indian software firms have proved their skills and modern methodologies to deliver ultimate solutions for various business requirements. After having a close look it has been found that with the development of the internet, many new and diverse areas in web development have been opened in India. India as a new destination is actually becoming a new hot bazaar for offering all kinds of web solutions. Factors like low cost manpower, communication facilities, sheer focus on quality and extensive technical knowledge are some of the essential factors that have led the growth of web development. If we compare the present scenario of outsourcing web solution, one main factor that gives India an edge over other countries is this nation has a large ratio of trained brains who deliver better results with their knowledge base. Indian IT professionals have the potential to provide quality work and meet deadlines. Many top multi national corporations have understood the benefits of cost effectiveness of the Indian software market and are similarly astonished by the class of service provided. You’re doing enough to exist, but not enough to excel. You’re doing enough to be counted, but not enough to go over the top. I’m sorry. I really like you. A business website should be only one piece of your web presence. You should also have a presence on every social networking website out there. It also includes making sure that it shows up on the Real Estate tab as something you can work on. Once I have it in the players database table, I need to add the code for the player to be able to modify how much to spend each turn on that type of marketing. Next, I will need to write the code to determine the number of new houses that appear for you to look at based on the marketing you are spending money on. Once I have this basic system working, then I will go back and add more types of marketing and tweak the interface to get the right balance in the game. So, that is the plan right now to make the game have that new feature for modeling the marketing to find motivated sellers. Again, no. Here is what they did. They sent an email out to everyone, yes that’s right everyone telling us that there was a problem AND APOLOGIZING PROFUSELY. In addition they compensated us for the inconvenience by adding credits to the tool that was affected. They kept in contact with us all through a forum which was very easy to locate and use. They received many, many words of encouragement from a lot of website builders basically saying thanks for the extra credits and no problem with the glitch. Then the company advised after many testings that the problems were all fixed and we were good to go. NOW IS THIS THE TYPE OF SERVICE YOUR COMPANY PROVIDES. I’m reasonably confident that a lot of people are paying a lot of money for a product which does NOT do all that this particular company does. Question is why do so many people stay with that type of website building company. If you would like to compare your current website building company head to and Aircraft. If you can use Microsoft Word then you can use these programs the same way. Just type. So Is The HTML correct. Some purists would argue that WYSIWYG programs make messy or bloated HTML code and the web pages may not be fully compliant to international standards. Some web pages may display slightly differently in different browsers. In the end, having a website live on the web is better than not having it up there. The making of a website even if HTML is unknown. Even though the HTML code may not be “perfect” the resultant web pages are still normal looking to the user. When looking for designs, you can easily import your own graphics and designs into most modern website building programs. There are many templates (or skins) you can buy or download for free. The booming market of first time marketers has created a whole industry of easy to use website programs and the vendors have shown a great understanding of the needs of novice website builders by producing comprehensive manuals and tutorials that lay out each step. The tutorials are so user friendly, with a common sense approach, that even beginners should be able to complete a simple website in just an hour. ClarityA glossary’s aim is to give a clear meaning to the words you use. Keep your explanations as clear as possible. If they only lead to further misunderstandings or do not answer the readers questions, you would be better off without one. Ease Of UnderstandingKeep your glossary very easy read and people will enjoy reading it. Pay attention to the general appearance of the glossary as a whole as well as the individual explanations. An Added ValueAfter ready through a well done glossary, the reader may well come away feeling appreciative of the easy to read informative experience. It is a wonderful touch of thoughtfulness to your international visitors. Non native English speakers will greatly appreciate its value. Prepares For TranslationA glossary is highly recommended in certain industries where specific vocabulary requires expert translations. In some instances some people feel they can take a dictionary out and provide translations of key vocabulary in languages other than their mother tongue. What a waste. Have you created and submitted an XML sitemap to Google Sitemaps. So don’t get caught up in having the most polished and professionally looking site. Focus more on having the pieces in place that will bring you the cash, too. 2. Give your site only one jobThink of each page of your website as a separate entity with one main purpose. It may be to sell something, or to sign up for your list, or to get people to call you for an appointment. Whatever it is, make it clear that that one thing is the action your visitor should take from being on that page. 3. Track your numbersMost web hosts offer statistics that you can use to watch your numbers, or there are other web stat programs that you could use as well (such as Google Analytics). However you are keeping an eye on your numbers, you should be looking for two things: how many people visit your site and how many people take the action you want them to take. From those two numbers, you can figure out your conversion rate, which tells you how many of those visitors took the action you wanted them to like sign up for your list. If you make small changes to your page AND watch these numbers at the same time, you’ll be able to tweak things to increase your conversion rate. 4.
